Crown Reductions

Crown reductions are carried out to reduce the height and/or spread of the crown. This may be done by drop-crotching or the removal of branch tips to growth points. The trees natural shape is retained as far as possible If the crown has become misshapen then the reduction may focus on that area.

Reductions may typically be 10 - 20%, more than this may, according to species, damage the long-term viability of the tree.
