Crown Lifting

This is the removal of the lowest branches of a tree. This may be carried out for reasons of access to people or cars or to prevent shading. Ideally this should be carried out when trees are young (formative pruning) to avoid large wounds. These wounds may jeopardise the long-term future of the tree. If larger branches are to be removed then this can be done in stages over a period of time.
